For the scientific community, gender is usually associated with one’s sex and therefore the presence of X and Y chromosomes. However, XX and XY chromosomes are not that simple. There are cases where neither sex organs nor the presence of sex chromosomes dictate sex.
Intersex children need what every child needs: unconditional love, visibility, inclusion and support for their psychosomatic integrity. For a world that will contain us all, without discrimination and gender-based violence.
The transformation of concepts (“man” / “woman”) with a purely social significance into biological and medical terms only succeeds in conveying prejudices and stereotypes within the specific scientific objects, while the further the research progresses, the clearer their inappropriateness becomes.
